The Goldie Group reports that Google Voice support has just been added to the Google Takeout service. Google Takeout is the search engine company’s historical tool which lets users keep their data from services like Buzz and Google+.
This new support will allow users to download all data associated with their Google Voice account. Users will have access to everything from their call history to voicemails and even call recordings.
When a user wishes to download or archive some of their data (e.g., their voicemail) Takeout automatically gives them the estimated number of files and the size that the file will be. If the user agrees Takeout will create a downloadable archive file.
Users will be able to export their voice data as MP3 files, their text messages as html, and their forwarding numbers as vcard. Takeout is a free to use and is a neat little tool when you want to archive your Google Voice data.

The department of Justice has filed a lawsuit to stop the acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T. Sprint has reacted positively to the lawsuit, as it has voiced a disagreement with the acquisition from its initial announcement. The company explained that the DoJ’s move showed it put the interest of consumers first, something that would help them benefit from the wireless industry.
According to Michael Chopp, commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, there have been a number of public interest concerns about the acquisition, including innovation and consumer choice. FCC’s Mignon Clyburn also explained the FCC was carefully looking into the competitive issues the application raised to serve the public interest.
However, the Goldie Group has also established that not everybody is happy with the lawsuit. The Communication’s Workers of America (CWA) has said the DoJ has considered the government’s priorities at the expense of worker’s rights. A think tank in Washington also concurs with CWA, adding that anyone expecting real competition in the 4 G LTE market must wait. AT&T too is not taking the lawsuit lying down and has promised to fight it.
However, Sprint said the move would strengthen the economy, encourage innovation and preserve American jobs.

The father company of T-Mobile USA, “Deutsche Telekom” was forced to preserve upcoming employment cuts. A recent report proved that Deutsche Telekom was liable for these transitions. Approximately 2,600 people were laid off for T-Mobile USA’s call centers. An employee of Deutsche Telekom commented on these changes, “We have not carried out any measures to cut jobs ahead of the planned T-Mobile USA sale to AT&T. In the past 12 months the workforce has been reduced by 2,000 but that is in line with normal fluctuations.” T-Mobile stands to be a company that regularly gives employment for people. T-Mobile USA employed approximately 36,000 people. This however, is still under federal review. The FCC, (Federal Communications Commission) stated that there are upcoming plans to have “restarted” the clock and for AT&T to conquer T-Mobile. On another note, when the FCC inquired about AT&T’s itinerary to acquire T-Mobile, the review period was suspended. .

AT&T recently launched DriveMode, a free application designed to curb distractions while driving. Users have the ability to forward calls to voicemail and leave a customizable text message reply notifying each sender that the user is driving. DriveMode includes 911 for emergencies and enables users to save up to five contact numbers on an “Allow List” that can be reached while the application is running. The application will be available on BlackBerry products and roll out across other platforms in the future.
DriveMode is associated with a recent campaign launched by AT&T to educate the public about the dangers of texting and driving. AT&T pledged $1 million over the next four years to federal agencies and national associations that emphasize the best health and safety practices for young people.
DriveMode comes from a concept first shared on the AT&T crowd-sourcing platform, known as The Innovation Pipeline, or TIP. Employees were encouraged to submit ideas and obtain funding to develop such programs. DriveMode was voted one of the most innovative ideas and went into development.

AT&T ranks dead last in customer satisfaction according to multiple polls. J.D. Power and Associates is a global marketing firm that conducts surveys on product quality and customer service. They recently polled 11,000 customers who made cell-phone purchases in the last year. The customers were then asked to rate their experiences on a 1,000 point scale. AT&T came in dead last with 744 points. Sprint and T-Mobile tied with 755 points.
J.D. Power believes that Sprint won points due to its variety of offers and online sales. They also determined that T-Mobile represented the best service for the money. Boost-Mobile came in number one for customer service. J.D. Power commented that Boost-Mobile did especially well in costs, offerings, and satisfaction when dealing with sales representatives.
The American Customer Satisfaction Index conducted a similar poll of 8,000 customers. AT&T came in last for customer service here as well. Both AT&T and T-Mobile scored worse than in previous surveys. Analysts suspect that T-Mobile’s ratings may have suffered due to their impending merger with AT&T.
In a third survey, Changewave found that customers complained of dropped calls on AT&T twice as often as its competitors. Customers rated experiences higher when dealing with live representatives in-person or on the phone. Online and automated experiences were rated much lower. Even in cases where product cost was higher, customers still preferred personal attention over savings.
The results of these surveys suggest that AT&T has some work to do in customer service. Companies may fare better by expanding retail presences, better training for sales reps, and providing more in-store demo products. Retailers looking for mobile phone parts and accessories, or some help moving old inventory, should contact the Goldie Group.

Microsoft has just released its new social location application titled “We’re In” to be used on Windows Phone 7 devices.
Microsoft claims that “We’re In” makes staying connected to your friends a breeze. Whether you are trying to organize a party, taking a road trip, or trying to find your friends in a crowd “We’re in can help you. Using this app you no longer have to check into locations like many apps do nowadays. They make it fairly simple… You invite your friends and when they accept you can see each others locations.
Once you get the invite all of your plans are explained to the people you are meeting. When a friend joins the group you are able to use Bing Maps to pinpoint their exact location. Say I’m looking for my friend Kenny Goldie; I can simply take a look at the maps and pinpoint exactly where he is. Everyone that joins can see the locations of everyone in the group.
Invitations last for a set amount of time. Once the invitation expires, so does the shared location information. There are no complicated processes to worry about.
Now let’s say Kenny Goldie is leaving the party or get together. Kenny can simply tell the application that he is no longer staying. So how do you leave the party? It’s a simple process; you just need to tap the leave button. When you do this the app stops sharing all of your personal information.
While you are participating in a group you can post status messages and interact with all the others in the group. You no longer have to wade through miles of Facebook posts to see what your friends are doing. You simply tap on their name and you get an instant status update.
Currently this application is free for all Windows Phone 7 devices and is compatible with browsers on some other platforms. According to Microsoft they are planning on updating the application to work on other devices in the near future.
