It was revealed today that Opera Software acquired Handster Inc., a company that currently operates in the U.S. and Ukraine. It provides Opera not only a mobile application store platform, but a large Android content library as well. Handster already services many large device manufacturers, and this can only help strengthen the Opera Store which was started in March, allowing them access to Handster customers such as Ericsson and LG. Both Opera and Handster currently support Android, BlackBerry, Java and Symbian. Handster adds Windows Mobile to that list, which also already includes iOS. The combination of these two companies should make the Opera Store an even bigger contender on the mobile application market.
